A Grand Sherpa Cultural Center to Be Built in Golden, Colorado

Colorado, July 29
The United Sherpa Association of Colorado is set to build a grand Sherpa Cultural Center in Golden, Colorado, with an estimated cost of approximately 1.5 million USD.
According to Association Vice President Lhakpa Sherpa, the organization has already finalized a deal to purchase land worth $500,000 in Golden for the project. The ownership will be officially transferred to the association within a few days.
Association President Kazi Sherpa shared that the land—about 8 ropani (approximately 1 acre)—is located along the main road in Golden, roughly 18 minutes from Boulder. The center will feature a large Buddhist stupa (Gumba) and other facilities representing Sherpa culture and identity. The property will include parking space for over 100 vehicles.
“The center will showcase Sherpa religion, culture, traditions, language, attire, and unique identity on American soil and serve as a center of attraction for people of all faiths,” – President Kazi Sherpa
Vice President Lhakpa Sherpa called upon everyone to support the center’s construction.
“We believe that the center, which will feature a magnificent stupa of Lord Buddha, will unite people of all nationalities, ethnicities, communities, and backgrounds,” he said. “We appeal to the Sherpa community, Nepalis living in the U.S. and abroad, as well as all peace-loving individuals to support this initiative.”
The association has already raised $350,000, including $63,000 personally contributed by Vice President Sherpa.
As additional funds were needed for the land purchase, 13 members of the Sherpa community contributed $20,000 each, on the condition that the funds would be repaid later without any interest.
